Sidekick/Tracker/Vitara Rear Dif. Block For Suspension Lifts

When installing a suspension lift on a TracKick (or Vitara as it is known elsewhere in the world), dealing with the Upper Control Arm on the rear suspension system is often overlooked. This arm connects between the frame and the rear differential along the centerline of the frame.

If you apply lift everywhere and ignore this connection, you can create a binding condition causing unwanted strain and increased wear on the control arm's ball joint.

Here is a design for a block that can be installed between the Differential and the Control Arm to reduce the wear problems. It was designed by Rafael Kings and Manoel Alves and can be made from steel, aluminum or a piece of Ultra Long Molecule Polymer plastic. The dimensions are in millimeters. The thickness of this block should be the same as the thickness of spring lift blocks. Four Grade 8 10mm bolts with lock washers should be used. The length of the bolts is dependent on the thickness of the block. Torque on these bolts is specified as 29-43 foot-pounds (40-60 Nm) according to the Chilton Total Care Care CD for the '93 Sidekick.
